Large white bloom with gold leaf textured painting

Long white petals burst from a seeded gold centre on the right of the canvas, the outer ones running off the edge as if the flower were too big for the frame.

Behind the bloom, streaks of gold sweep in from the left and up toward the top, laid in broken, flaking strokes over a warm cream and taupe ground. The petals are built thickly, with ridges running their length like folds in silk, and the upper left is dusted with white flecks that look almost frosted. Because the flower sits off-centre, the left third is mostly soft ground and gold, giving the bloom room to open.
