About this painting

Emerald green is dragged across the canvas in broad diagonal sweeps, with darker bottle-green streaks cutting through brighter jade like shadows under water. The strokes run from upper left toward lower right, laid with a knife so the paint folds over itself and leaves crisp ridges.

In thinner passages the canvas weave shows through as a fine dotted grain. Near the lower right corner the movement curls into a swirl, where paler mint and a hint of blue-violet surface along the edge. The heaviest ridges cluster down the right side and in the upper right corner.
