Gold and deep blue palette-knife vortex canvas art

Hundreds of petal-shaped strokes wheel around a dark eye just right of centre, gold, orange and red sweeping down the left side while deep navy and steel blue curl over the top and right. Where the two halves meet, yellow strokes are carried into the blue and blue ones into the warm side, so the turn looks as if it is still moving.

The strokes are laid one by one as raised, leaf-shaped dabs of thick paint, short and crowded near the centre and longer toward the edges. Pale grey and cream petals lighten the upper middle, and the lower left deepens into crimson and near black.
