About this painting

Two giant fingerprints fill these black panels, and every ridge is a line of white handwriting. The script is loose, unreadable cursive written in rows that bend into arcs, so up close you see writing and from across the room you see a fingerprint.

The pair is not a mirror image. On the left the oval narrows to a point at the bottom and its lines run mostly straight across; on the right the script coils into a rounder whorl. Behind both, smudged grey and warm brown patches show through the black like reflections in dark glass, softening the hard white line.
