A dark wedge of black and violet pushes in from the bottom left corner like a rock at the waterline, the one hard shape in a canvas otherwise built from soft bands of colour. Above it the colour is stacked in layers: a stripe of solid scarlet, a paler pink band laced with red-rimmed cells, a ragged line of white foam and then bright cerulean teal swept with fine white streaks running towards the upper right.

Glossy highlights sit on the pink where the paint pooled. The colours stay separate rather than marbled, which gives the composition its clean, striped look.
