About this painting

Hundreds of small blue dots, set in strict rows on a cream ground, are pulled out of line by a swirl through the middle and lower half of the canvas, stretching each dot into a dash where the field bends. The grid is divided into blocks by narrow cream gutters, and those gutters warp along with the dots, as if the surface were cloth being twisted.

Two solid blue lines break the pattern: one zigzags down the left edge, the other drops into a sharp V at the top. The paint is flat and each dot is placed by hand, so the effect comes from drawing, not texture.

AA#682 is an original abstract geometric painting showing blue dot grid warped into a swirling op-art distortion on cream, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

Op art like this works best where it is passed rather than studied, since the twisted rows tend to appear to ripple as someone walks by: a corridor wall, or the side wall of a reception area approached at a slant. In an office, set it against concrete, white oak or navy acoustic panelling; the cream ground is warm enough to sit with timber. Keep other patterns away from it, especially striped or dotted rugs.

Specified for workspace & office, gallery & retail, corridor & circulation and home office; it reads as bold.

Pairs well with

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for AA#682 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Flat brushwork takes less paint and time than impasto or relief work of the same size.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on AA#682 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Is the dot pattern of AA#682 tiring to look at on a large wall?

Less than many op art works, because the distortion is confined to the centre and the corners keep a steady grid with plenty of cream between the dots. Seen from two or three metres it reads as one calm swirl; it is only at very close range, in a narrow passage, that the dots start to flicker.

What do the two solid blue lines in AA#682 do?

They give the dot field an edge to push against. The zigzag on the left and the V at the top are the only solid shapes on the canvas, and the stretched dots seem to pour out between them, which is what makes the pattern read as movement rather than wallpaper.

Is AA#682 a print or an original painting?

An original. AA#682 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of AA#682 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
