About this painting

Soft banks of blue, sage and cream drift across the canvas like weather seen from a plane window, scattered with small clusters of gold. Cerulean and steel blue settle into three corners, moss green and a little peach glow through the middle, and lavender grey softens the right side.

The paint goes on in short dabbed and dragged strokes, close to impressionist brushwork, so no shape has a hard edge. Gold flakes gather in loose clusters, heaviest down the left edge and across the top, then thin to single flecks toward the bottom. The texture is in the broken brushwork rather than any build-up of paint.

Why is the gold on AA#731 grouped in clusters?

So it reads as light catching here and there rather than decoration spread over everything. Gathered at the top and along the left edge, then thinning toward the bottom, the clusters give the misty composition a direction, as though light were falling in from the upper left.

Could AA#731 lean warmer, with more peach and less blue?
