About this painting

A band of dark brown, dotted with what look like rivet heads, runs across the bottom of the canvas like the foot of a rusting metal door, and above it the surface peels away in layers of ochre, chalk white and pale blue.

Higher up are the darkest crusts: soot-brown patches down the left edge, a black smear across the top with a small brick-red patch beside it, and close vertical scratches at upper right. The middle opens into a pale, chalky zone with flakes of verdigris blue, a thin vertical crack and a small dripping dark square. A faint stencilled C sits on the brown band.

WA#022 is an original wabi-sabi painting showing weathered rust, brown and pale blue layers like a peeling wall, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

The heavy brown band gives the canvas a firm base, so it sits well low over a banquette in a bar, a bench in a boutique fitting area, or a long credenza, where the band lines up with the furniture beneath. It belongs with exposed brick, weathering steel, zinc counters, worn leather and reclaimed boards. Under amber restaurant lighting the pale blue turns almost grey-green, so if the blue matters, look at it under the room's own lamps before deciding.

Specified for gallery & retail, corridor & circulation, restaurant & bar and living room; it reads as moody and dramatic.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for WA#022 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Thick impasto uses more paint and takes longer to dry than flat brushwork, which the price reflects.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on WA#022 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

What are the dots along the brown band of WA#022?

They are small pale dots spaced along the dark band like rivet heads on an old steel plate or a ship's hull. Together with the faint letter C at the left, they make the lower edge read as a piece of industrial metal rather than plain colour.

Does WA#022 work on an exposed brick wall?

Yes, especially old red or brown brick. Its rust and soot tones belong to the same family, while the chalky white middle and pale blue flakes separate the canvas from the wall behind it. On very dark or painted black brick the pale centre stands out most strongly.

Is WA#022 a print or an original painting?

An original. WA#022 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of WA#022 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
