Broad leaves overlap in layers across an all-white panel, some lying flat and some lifting at the tip, each one pressed with a central rib and fanned side veins. There is no colour beyond white and the faint cream of the plaster, so the picture is made entirely of shadow: the higher a leaf is built, the darker the line it casts on the one beneath.

The larger leaves gather through the centre and upper right, smaller blades tuck along the left edge, and several have notched or scalloped margins. Thin raised stems curl between them on a matte, sandy surface.
