About this painting

Two big coral blooms, round and ruffled like pom-poms, anchor a crowded mass of pink, lilac, yellow and powder-blue flowers across the bottom two thirds. Above them the colour thins into a cream and pale grey haze, where a few small birds dart between drifting petals.

The paint is soft and blended rather than built up, with tiny white flecks scattered over the blooms like light catching dew. The birds are easy to miss at first, which rewards a second look.
