Hundreds of short vertical dabs of lemon yellow, sky blue and leaf green tumble down the square like sun breaking through a willow.

The light is strongest in the upper left, where the yellows run almost to cream; towards the lower right the dabs cool into teal and navy, and small rust-red marks sit in the shadows. Each stroke is set down with the flat of a knife and left standing, so the paint keeps raised edges and the whole surface glints as light crosses it. Nothing is outlined: the picture is built entirely from these repeated marks.

At the largest sizes it can hold a double-height wall.
