About this painting

Broad banana-shaped sweeps of lime, turquoise, butter cream and peach curl across the canvas like leaves caught in a gust, each one hemmed by dense hatching in dark bottle green. Between them, patches of olive ground, cerulean and pale lavender fill the gaps, and thin coral-red rims separate stroke from hatching.

The lime arcs are the loudest notes and they lean in opposite directions, top left against lower centre, so the composition never settles into a single diagonal. The colour is opaque and evenly laid; the movement comes from those short green dashes, which give every edge a furry, restless outline.
