About this painting

Two dark cobalt shapes, like standing stones, rise through the upper middle of a square canvas built from overlapping pale sheets of periwinkle, lavender and ice blue.

Between their bases a bright turquoise patch glows like light through glass, above a smaller cobalt bowl. The left half is quieter: translucent lilac and white layers laid one over another, crossed by thin turquoise lines that loop and run. Every layer has a scraped, dry-brushed edge, and fine scratched lines reveal the colour underneath; a dark green leaf shape and a few flecks of ochre near the top are the only notes outside the blues.

Is AA#013 a paper collage?

No, it is painted throughout. The shapes look torn and layered because each one is laid as a flat sheet of acrylic with a scraped, uneven edge and then partly painted over, which mimics overlapping paper while keeping one continuous painted surface.

How does AA#013 hold up in a room that is already blue?

It still stands out. Most of the canvas is soft periwinkle and lavender, close to a pale blue wall, but the turquoise patch and the two cobalt shapes are much stronger, so the painting separates from a blue scheme instead of disappearing into it. A white or warm grey wall gives it more contrast.

Is AA#013 a print or an original painting?
