About this painting

Dense arcs of black and white knife strokes sweep across the lower four fifths of the canvas, curling into a large rainbow-shaped swirl beneath a quiet band of mottled white plaster.

The knife skips as it moves, leaving broken dashes of black and white, so every curve looks fast and slightly torn. Strokes fan in from the lower left, cross in the middle and lift toward the top right, building raised ridges across the surface. The plaster band above is pale grey and white, lightly pitted, and its straight lower edge makes the movement below look even more restless.

AA#036 is an original abstract painting showing dense sweeping black knife strokes over white filling the lower two thirds, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

Put it where people arrive: an entrance hall, a lobby wall facing the door, or the back wall of a monochrome fashion or design store, where the swirl reads from the street. It suits terrazzo, polished concrete, black steel and white oak. Angle a downlight across it from above and every knife ridge casts its own shadow. The plaster and impasto add weight, so fix it into masonry or a stud rather than a single plasterboard hook.

Specified for gallery & retail, lobby & reception, entryway & hallway and living room; it reads as dramatic and bold.

Pairs well with

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for AA#036 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Thick impasto uses more paint and takes longer to dry than flat brushwork, which the price reflects.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on AA#036 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Why is there a plain band across the top of AA#036?

It gives the movement somewhere to stop. The mottled plaster strip is calm and almost empty, so the dense knife arcs below look faster and heavier by contrast. It also gives the composition a clear top edge, which helps when the canvas hangs high in an entrance or lobby.

Does AA#036 work in a room with strong colour?

Yes. Being purely black, white and grey, it accepts almost any accent: an emerald velvet chair, a red lacquer console or terracotta floor tiles all stand out against it. Keep strong pattern off the wall immediately around it, since the knife strokes already supply plenty.

Is AA#036 a print or an original painting?

An original. AA#036 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of AA#036 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
