About this painting

A warm yellow glow rises from the lower left of a tall canvas and fades into slate blue and near-navy at the top right, with white speckles scattered over all of it like stars. The speckles crowd into the dark upper corner and thin out across the yellow, where only a few bright points remain.

Between the two colours lies a soft grey haze, blended so smoothly that there is no edge to find. The surface stays flat and quiet; all the movement comes from the diagonal.
