About this painting

Teal and turquoise folds sweep in from the left like the petals of an opening flower, gathering around a dark blue heart, while mauve, plum and peach rise from the lower right.

Gold lines trace the edge of every fold and branch like veins in cut agate; across the right side they widen into a crinkled gold band that runs toward a soft peach glow at the edge. Fine charcoal hairlines follow the folds too, giving the colour the look of polished stone. The paint is blended smoothly, and only the gold stands slightly above it.
